The 2026 HLCA Board of Directors
Terry Cantrell - Terry will continue to serve as President of the HLCA in 2026. A Lakes resident since 1968 and HLCA member since 1985, Terry is the Webmaster for the HLCA website. In addition to his website duties, Terry writes and edits articles for the quarterly Lakes Community Newsletter. Terry has been on the HLCA Board since 1998. Terry is Chair of the Historic Preservation Board. Terry and his wife Lynn live on Harrison Street.

Nick Moskol - Nick, a Hollywood native, raised his family in the Lakes as a resident since 1992. He attended South Broward High and is a graduate of the University of Florida. After holding various roles in the Real Estate industry, he is the VP and Managing Broker for the Berkshire Hathaway offices in Aventura and Fort Lauderdale. Nick will again serve as a Director for 2026.
Alex Bruno - Alex will serve in 2026 as a Director. Alex, a well known local realtor, also serves as a Director for the Hollywood Historical Society. Alex is a long time Hollywood resident and is active in code, crime and safety issues. Alex also serves on the Home of the Month Committee.

Lynn Cantrell - Lynn has been a Lakes resident for 52 years and has served as a member of the HLCA Board since 1996. During that time, she has served on the Newsletter Committee working with advertisers and contributes her editing skills, as well. Lynn will continue to serve as an Alternate Director 2026.

Rachel Mazor - Rachel Warady Mazor - A Lakes Resident since 2000, Rachel joined the HLCA Board of Directors in 2013. Rachel is passionate about the neighborhood and residents living here and the local schools. Rachel serves on the Newsletter Committee and will continue to be our Secretary in 2026.

Ramon Franco - Ramon continues on the HLCA Board as in Regular Director for 2026. Ramon was born in Mexico City and relocated to NYC with his former employer from the hospitality industry. He moved to Hollywood in 1998 and him and his partner Craig are Hollywood Lakes residents since 2013 on Funston St. Ramon is passionate about helping others as a local Realtor and a longtime volunteer for Habitat for Humanity. Ramon is a Board Member with the Greater Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, a Leadership Graduate Class 44 and an Ambassador for the Chamber. He loves to walk and run with his dogs in South Lake.

Kim Ottaviani - Kim Ottaviani, a long time director and advocate, supporter and promoter of all things neighborly, civic and community oriented has served on the HLCA board in various capacities for over 20 years. Kim, a retired educator in the Miami Dade County School System now teachers yoga locally. She spearheads the HLCA Taste of Hollywood event each May and promotes community building via her participation on the membership and newsletter committee. She is a member of the Hollywood Women's Club and Hollywood Historical Society. Kim, her husband Steve (and their spunky pup) have been working to build community from their home on Washington Street since 1999 when they moved into the neighborhood and were warmly welcomed by neighbors already in place thus setting the tone for preserving, amplifying and paying forward even more neighborly to come.

Frank Menschner – Frank joined the HLCA Board in 2020 and will serve as a Treasurer in 2026 and on the Membership Committee. Frank was born and raised in Germany and worked there as a banker. Frank moved to the USA and bought a house in the Lakes in 2009. Frank is a stay-at-home dad who is passionate about environmental issues and in keeping Hollywood Lakes safe and clean. Frank is a volunteer and a member of the PTSA at Beachside Montessori Village where his sons attend school. Frank lives with his wife, Lori, and their two sons, Leo and Luke, on North 13th Terrace.

2025 Committees
Code: Terry Cantrell, Kim Longmire and Nick Moskol: The Code Committee interfaces closely with the City’s Code Enforcement Dept. regarding code offenses observed in the Lakes neighborhood with a strong emphasis on education rather than penalties.
​
Home of the Month: Jose Castro, Alex Bruno: Contributes nominations, selects suitable homes that meet the criteria and photographs our Home of the Month and Good Neighbor Award Winners.
​
Legal Committee: Terry Cantrell, Clay Miller: Reviews any legal issues that pertain to the HLCA.
​
Membership/Outreach: Kim Ottaviani, Frank Menscher, Siobhan McLaughlin, Sarah Gomez : finds ways to grow membership while maintaining current members. Hosts the “Membership Table” and raffles during general meetings.
​
Newsletter: Terry Cantrell, Lynn Cantrell, Rachel Mazor, Kim Ottaviani: Provides content for the neighborhood newsletter - including writing articles and working with advertisers.

Intergovernmental Committee: Terry Cantrell. Works closely with City Staff on issues affecting Lakes neighborhood.

Website/Social Media: Maria Zappas-Porter, Roger Lohse, Terry Cantrell, Kim Ottaviani.

Parks/Golf Courses: Terry Cantrell, Kimberly Longmire, Jose Castro: Stays abreast of developments and issues involving the parks and City golf course facilities located in the Lakes neighborhood.
​
Planning & Zoning: Terry Cantrell and Nick Moskol: The P&Z Committee monitors and exams any potential developments that affect the Lakes neighborhood.
​
Program: All Directors : determines topics of interest to the membership in consultation with the Board and other concerned members. Recruits good speakers, assists in providing support services, and helps to promote the resulting event.
​
Traffic and Safety: Terry Cantrell, Steve Freedman, Lynn Cantrell: This active Committee works closely with the Police and the City Traffic Engineer to insure the streets and avenues in the Lakes neighborhood are both safe and are moving traffic around the Lakes effectively.

Sue Gunzburger - Sue has been a Lakes resident for 38 years. Her previous civic involvement has been as a city and county commissioner for 32 years until Nov. 2014. She currently is working on revisions to Broward County’s Charter as well as a recent member of the City's Charter Review Committee and heads the Ethics Sub committee. Sue will serve on the HLCA Board in 2026 as an Alternate Director.

​Kimberly Longmire - Kimberly’s family moved to Hollywood lakes in 1967. She graduated from South Broward high school and from Sheridan Vocational. In 2002 she opened a salon in our Historic downtown called “Hair Industry” which celebrated its 20 year anniversary In 2022. In 2010 she helped form the New Image task force (NITF), a local grass roots group to help bring attention to the crime and blight along our US1 corridor, the downtown and surrounding neighborhoods. Shortly after that they have worked very closely with the HLCA and the HPD in hosting the National Night Out Crime watch event on the first Tuesday of every October. She is a graduate of Leadership Hollywood class of 42. Kimberly will serve as a regular Director in 2026.

Jose Castro - Jose will serve again as a Director for 2026. Jose Chairs the Home of the Month Committee and serves on the Membership Committee. Jose is a local Realtor and he and his wife and son live on Lincoln Street.
​
​Siobhan McLaughlin - Siobhan grew up in Hollywood, attending Nativity School and McArthur High School and has lived in the Lakes since 1984. She is a community activist and civic leader, serving on numerous city and county boards. She worked in the TICU at Jackson Memorial Hospital for more than 30 years and retired a with the intention to work mostly in her yard and catch up on her reading. In addition to Persistant, the Cat and Mabel Rose, a three year old Dachound along with Mom. Siobhan will serve as Financial Secretary again in 2026.

Steven Freedman - Steven Freedman is a retired Civil/Environmental Engineer who resides in West Lake Village. Over his 47 year career he has specialized in wastewater treatment, storm water, and both combined (CSOs) and sanitary sewer overflows (SSOs) for clients throughout North America. In addition to being active in the HLCA he is volunteers for voter registration drives at the regional court house in Hollywood. Steven also serves on the HLCA Safety and Programming Committees and will serve as a Regular Director for 2026.

Jonathan Lorber - Jonathan is a realtor and resident of West Lake Village. Jonathan has been a long time member and has help with many social event over the years. Jonathan will serve as and a Regular Director in 2026,

Clay Miller - Clay Miller was born in Hollywood and has lived in the Hollywood Lakes area since he was three years old. He grew up in a working class family and was fortunate to grow up in our wonderful neighborhood due to the assistance of the VA due to his father's military service. He attended South Broward High School and The George Washington University before moving back home to better his community. He currently serves as the Legislative Director for County Mayor Beam Furr. Clay will serve as a Vice President in 2026.

Maria Zappas-Porter - Maria will serve as a Regular Director for 2026. Maria was born in a warm region in Mexico. In 2012 and moved to White Plains, NY. Maria and her husband Nicolas came to Hollywood, moved to the Lakes neighborhood and fell in love with it! Maria works for CPZ , an architect & a interior design firm and is a mother of a fabulous 6 year old girl named Julieta.
Maria is also a member of the Hollywood Womens Club.

Sarah Gomez: Sarah, her husband Michael, their two children, and Walter the dog have called Monroe Street home since 2018. After contributing to the HLCA Newsletter over the past year, Sarah is excited to join the Board of Directors as an Alternate Director in 2026. She is passionate about fostering fun, connection, celebration, and inclusivity within the community and is also an active member—and future board member—of the Hollywood Women’s Club, as well as a volunteer at Hollywood Academy of Arts and Science, where her children attend.

David Weaver: David has been a Hollywood Lakes resident for 8 years. He and his husband, Andy Ruffner have been very intentional about making Hollywood their home and doing what they can to strengthen the strong sense of community they've found here. In addition to the HLCA, David is on the board of The Center (Art & Culture Center of Hollywood) and is Vice President of the LGBTQ+ Council. David comes on the Board as an Alternate Director.

Fred Furze: Fred joins the HLCA Board as an Alternate for 2026. Fred and his wife Connie live on Grant Street. Fred is an Interior Designer and services on the City's Historic Preservation Board. Fred is very active with the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.
