The 2020 HLCA Board of Directors
Terry Cantrell - Terry will continue to serve as President of the HLCA in 2020. A Lakes resident since 1968 and HLCA member since 1985, Terry is the Webmaster for the HLCA website. In addition to his website duties, Terry writes and edits articles for the quarterly Lakes Community Newsletter. Terry has been on the HLCA Board since 1998. He also serves as President of the Hollywood Council of Civic Assn and Chair of the Historic Preservation Board. Terry and his wife Lynn live on Harrison Street.
Alex Sommers - Alex will serve as a Director in 2020. Alex bought into the Lakes in 2008 and moved here permanently in July, 2012, from Connecticut, where he was a professor of mechanical engineering. With four children, two of them in South Florida, one in Texas, and one in the Air Force in Colorado Springs, Alex is well-versed in South Florida issues related to flooding, storm surge, and infrastructure. He has in the past served on various planning and zoning commissions. He lives on Wiley Street with wife Pamela.
Nick Moskol – Nick Moskol - Nick, a Hollywood native, raising his family in the Lakes as a resident since 1992. He attended South Broward High and is a graduate of the University of Florida. An expert in the Real Estate field Nick held key roles with Fannie Mae during the housing recovery, and now is the Managing Broker in Real Estate. Nick will again serve as the Financial Secretary for 2020, and member of the Code Committee.
Ed Verret – Ed has lived in the Lakes since 1997. He is a Corporate Real Estate professional. He has served/chaired various boards with the City of Hollywood and other community organizations. Ed has served on the HLCA board previously as VP and has chaired/lead committees and initiatives. He will be our Treasurer in 2020. Ed and his wife Lanie live on Tyler Street with their two children.
Alex Bruno - Alex will serve in 2020 as a Director. Alex, a well known local realtor, also serves as a Director for the Hollywood Historical Society. Alex is a long time Hollywood resident and is active in code, crime and safety issues. Alex also serves on the Home of the Month Committee.
Lynn Cantrell - Lynn has been a Lakes resident for 45 years and has served as a member of the HLCA Board since 1996. During that time, she has served on the Newsletter Committee working with advertisers and contributes her editing skills, as well. Lynn will continue to serve as a regular Director 2020.
Rachel Mazor - Rachel Warady Mazor - A Lakes Resident since 2000, Rachel joined the HLCA Board of Directors in 2013. Rachel is passionate about the neighborhood and residents living here and the local schools. Rachel spends her “free time” volunteering in her kids’ school and in the community. Rachel will serve as Secretary in 2020.
Tal Mazor – Joined the HLCA Board in 2015 and will continue as a regular Director for 2018. Tal is active on the Code and Technology Committees and is a local business owner and general contractor.
Kim Ottaviani - Kim continues to serve as an Alternate Director in her 17th year of service to the Lakes Community via the HLCA board. Kim spearheads the Taste of Hollywood event each May and promotes community building via her participation on the Membership Committee. Kim and her husband Steve live on Washington Street.
Frank Menschner – Frank joins the HLCA Board as an Alternate for 2020. Frank was born and raised in Germany and worked there as a banker. Frank moved to the USA and bought a house in the Lakes in 2009. Frank is a stay-at-home dad who is passionate about environmental issues and in keeping Hollywood Lakes safe and clean. Frank volunteered for the Mobile Patrol and was active with the New Image Task Force. Frank is a volunteer and a member of the PTA at Hollywood Central Elementary where his son attends Kindergarten. Frank lives with his wife, Lori, and their two sons, Leo and Luke, on North 13th Terrace.

Code: Clive Taylor, Ed Verret, Tal Mazor, Terry Cantrell, Kim Longmire and Nick Moskol: The Code Committee interfaces closely with the City’s Code Enforcement Dept. regarding code offenses observed in the Lakes neighborhood with a strong emphasis on education rather than penalties.
Home of the Month: Jose Castro, Alex Bruno, Clive Taylor: Contributes nominations, selects suitable homes that meet the criteria and photographs our Home of the Month and Good Neighbor Award Winners.
Legal Committee: Terry Cantrell, Ed Verret: Reviews any legal issues that pertain to the HLCA.
Membership/Outreach: Kim Ottaviani, Vanessa Cuoumo, Siobhan McLaughlin : finds ways to grow membership while maintaining current members. Hosts the “Membership Table” and raffles during general meetings.
Newsletter: Terry Cantrell, Lynn Cantrell, Rachel Mazor: Provides content for the neighborhood newsletter - including writing articles and working with advertisers.
Intergovernmental Committee: Sue Gunzburger, Terry Cantrell. Works closely with City Staff on issues affecting Lakes neighborhood.
Website/Social Media: Ed Verret, Roger Lohse, Terry Cantrell.
Parks/Golf Courses: Terry Cantrell, Kimberly Longmire, Clive Taylor, Tom Clapp: Stays abreast of developments and issues involving the parks and City golf course facilities located in the Lakes neighborhood.
Planning & Zoning: Terry Cantrell, Ed Verret and Nick Moskol: The P&Z Committee monitors and exams any potential developments that affect the Lakes neighborhood.
Program: Alex Sommers, Terry Cantrell: : determines topics of interest to the membership in consultation with the Board and other concerned members. Recruits good speakers, assists in providing support services, and helps to promote the resulting event.
Traffic and Safety: Terry Cantrell, Clive Taylor: This active Committee works closely with the Police and the City Traffic Engineer to insure the streets and avenues in the Lakes neighborhood are both safe and are moving traffic around the Lakes effectively.

Sue Gunzburger - Sue has been a Lakes resident for 32 years. This is her first year sitting on the HLCA Board. Her previous civic involvement has been as a city and county commissioner for 32 years until Nov. 2014. She currently is working on revisions to Broward County’s Charter and heads the Ethics Sub committee. Sue will serve on the HLCA Board in 2020 as a Regular Director.
Clive Taylor – Clive will serve as a Regular Director in 2020 and has been a Lakes resident for 22 years. Clive has been active in New Image Task force and various historical organizations. Clive is an owner of local business here in Hollywood and is active in the Chamber of Commerce. Clive serves on the Home of the Month Committee.
Kimberly Longmire - Kimberly's family moved to the Hollywood Lakes in 1967. She graduated from South Broward high school and
then from cosmetology school in 1985. In 2010 she helped form the New Image Task Force (NITF) to fight the blight and crime
along the Federal Highway Corridor, in the downtown and surrounding neighborhoods. This year will be the 8th year the NITF
along with the HLCA will be hosting "The National Night Out" Crime Watch event in October. Kimberly owns the Hair Industry
salon in Downtown Hollywood and will serve as a Regular Director in 2020.
Tom Clapp - Will serve as a Director in 2020. Tom has been a South Florida resident for over 10 years with more than half of that in the Lakes. Tom has extensive and varied experience in construction, retail, technology, and real estate. He has grown, operated, and sold several small businesses, and has held senior positions in major corporations. He has served, and is serving, in appointed and elected positions with municipal, public service, civic, fraternal, and standards organizations. Tom and his wife Linda live on Johnson Street; their son also owns a home in the lakes.
Jose Castro - Jose will serve again as a Director for 2020. Jose is very active on the Home of the Month Committee and the Membership Committee. Jose is a local Realtor and he and his wife have two children.
Brad Martin - Brad Martin will serve as a Director 2020.Brad grew up in the lakes area and graduated from South Broward High School. He is affectionately known as PC Brad owner of a computer service company and is a licensed home inspector for over 10 years. Brad spent over 21 years as a member of the Greater Hollywood Chamber of Commerce where he was an ambassador and was extremely active in the small business community. Brad lives with his wife on Wiley Street next door to the home he grew up in and where his parents and family reside. He has been attending HLCA meetings for over 20 years. Brad will serve on the Newsletter Committee.
Siobhan McLaughlin - Siobhan grew up in Hollywood, attending Nativity School and McArthur High, and has lived in the Lakes since 1984. She is a community activist and civic leader, serving on numerous city and county boards as well as leadership positions in various organizations and groups. She worked in the ICU at Jackson Memorial Hospital for more than 30 years and retired a with the intention to work mostly in her yard and catch up on her reading. Siobhan comes on the Board as an Alternate Director for 2020.
Andy Ruffner- Andy is the Director of Education for the World AIDS Museum and Educational Center in Wilton Manors. He and his partner David Weaver moved to Hollywood Lakes in 2018 because they loved the diverse architecture, the walk-ability between downtown and the beach, and the strong sense of community here. Andy serves on several community boards, including the Broward HIV Health Services Planning Council, the Hollywood LGBTQ+ Council, Hollywood Democratic Club, and the Broward County Library Friends of Literacy. Andy will serve an an Alternate in 2020.
Vanessa Cuomo - Vanessa joins the HLCA Board as an Alternate for 2020. Vanessa has lived in Florida for 18 years, all of them in the Lakes .and has been involved with HLCA for several years even helping organize our HUG and picnic events. She is very active volunteering at her daughters’ schools both as a member of the PTSA and on the board, as well as serving on a school board task force.
