" The City of Hollywood held a presentation at City Hall on May 22nd, 2017, on the proposal to install a Mooring Buoy Field in North and South Lakes. Many Lakes residents who live on the two lakes were in attendance and were able to speak and ask questions. Very few residents who spoke were in favor of the concept. It is possible that the City could have one or both lakes designated as "recreational zones" where overnight anchoring would be prohibited. However, this designation must go before the Florida Legislature in the form of an ordinance and would be voted on in Tallahassee. This is not guaranteed as the marine lobby is powerful and may fight this designation. The HLCA will keep everyone updated on this issue."
The Florida Wildlife Commission did a report on the effects of Mooring Fields in Florida waters. View the report here.
