Join the Lakes Neighborhood Olympics Team!

The HLSCA is sponsoring a team for the City of Hollywood's Neighborhood Olympics. Hollywood's civic associations will compete in the City's first Neighborhood Olympics.More than 200 representatives from each participating association will come out for a fun-filled celebration with cheerleading teams, spirited activities, an overview of the program and point system, and refreshments. Each person representing an association at the pep rally will earn 25 points for their team, which will be the only time teams can accumulate points prior to the official start date of the Neighborhood Olympics. The purpose of the Neighborhood Olympics is to engage residents in their neighborhood associations, encourage working relationships among residents to improve their communities and promote existing city programs. From March 1 through August 31, residents will work together to earn points for projects like painting a home, establishing a neighborhood crime watch group, complying with code violations or attending a health and wellness workshop. They will also have opportunities to receive points for participating in fun and friendly competitive events like a Neighborhood Field Day, an adult spelling bee and lawn mower races. Gold, silver and bronze awards will be presented to the top three neighborhoods. The winners will also receive $1,000, $500 and $250 respectively to be used for continued neighborhood programs.

So far, ten associations have registered for the competition. Residents may join their neighborhood team at any time during the six-month period. Neighborhood associations are encouraged to register with the Department of Housing and Community Redevelopment by calling (954) 921-3271.
